Hormone replacement therapy

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

Menopause Care

Expert, personalised care through every stage of menopause.

Every woman experiences menopause differently. Symptoms such as hot flushes, disturbed sleep, anxiety, low mood, brain fog, joint aches and vaginal dryness can significantly affect health, confidence and quality of life.

You do not have to simply accept these changes as an inevitable part of ageing. With expert assessment, personalised treatment and ongoing support, many women can regain their energy, confidence and sense of wellbeing.

At our clinic, menopause care begins with understanding you — your symptoms, health, lifestyle and long-term priorities. We create a personalised treatment plan designed around your individual needs and provide expert guidance throughout your menopause journey.

Where appropriate, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) remains the gold-standard treatment for relieving menopausal symptoms. However, effective menopause care is about more than a single treatment. It is about understanding the whole person and supporting her health at every stage.

Understanding HRT

Understanding Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

Personalised care, grounded in evidence

Hormone Replacement Therapy replaces the hormones that naturally decline during perimenopause and menopause, most commonly oestrogen.

For women who still have a uterus, progesterone is usually prescribed alongside oestrogen to protect the lining of the womb. In carefully selected cases, testosterone may also be considered where clinically appropriate.

Modern HRT is highly personalised. Treatment is selected according to your symptoms, stage of menopause, medical history, lifestyle and personal preferences. Depending on your individual needs, HRT may be prescribed as patches, gels, sprays, tablets or vaginal preparations.

Treatment options

PatchesGelsSpraysTabletsVaginal preparations

During your consultation, the benefits and considerations of each option will be discussed carefully, enabling us to determine together the treatment most appropriate for you.

A considered decision

Is HRT Right for Me?

For many healthy women, HRT is both a safe and highly effective treatment.

Whether it is the right option for you depends on your symptoms, overall health, medical history and personal treatment goals.

For most women over the age of 45 with typical menopausal symptoms, blood tests are not routinely required before starting treatment. However, where symptoms are atypical, menopause occurs at an earlier age, or additional assessment is clinically indicated, further investigations or an examination may be recommended.

A measured process

Your Treatment Journey

Every woman's menopause journey is unique, and treatment should always reflect this.

Weeks

First few weeks

Many women begin to notice an improvement within the first few weeks of starting HRT.

Months

Two to three months

The full benefits are often experienced over two to three months.

Ongoing

Ongoing review

Occasionally, treatment requires careful adjustment during the early stages to achieve the greatest benefit using the lowest effective dose.

Current evidence does not support the belief that HRT causes weight gain.

Many of the physical changes experienced during midlife are related to the natural ageing process and hormonal changes rather than HRT itself. By improving sleep, energy levels and overall wellbeing, HRT can also make maintaining a healthy lifestyle easier.
